This is a retitled remastering of an original 1970s recording. (The original title was just "Balalaika".) A selection of Russian, Ukrainian and Moldavian folk songs and dances all played on the balalaika and accordion. The balalaika (балала́йка) is a Russian stringed instrument with a distinctive triangular body, which comes in multiple sizes from the mandolin-sized piccolo balalaika all the way to a contrabass-sized instrument called dombra (домбра, not to be confused with the dombrya, домбыра, a long-necked Kazakh lute).
