As a fervent follower of Special EFX and Chiele Minucci,I have owned all of Chiele's 90's discs, and the Special EFX's that were interspersed with them. As time progressed, Chiele ( who IS Special EFX now that George Zhinda is deceased) as become more acoustic and "tasty".(soft jazz) This older offering harkens back to the more feisty, electric and layered instrumentation of their early work. Furious guitar, rythyms, keyboards, and percussion in a happy, island groove kind of way. Never pretentious and self absorbed, just not Chieli's style, this CD is a glorious trip into some classic fusion that you do not hear anymore. A feel good trip into some hot playing that leaves you wondering: "what happened to music like this". More edgy than Fourplay, better muscianship than Spyra Gyra, more rock than Larry Carlton, less horns than everyone else. A real start to finisher. I can recommend "Global Village" and "Mystique" in the same period and genre by the same lineup. Fusionheads rejoice!!!!
